3. Continue to build Kyle Trask’s confidence

Kyle Trask put together an admirable performance in Week 3, throwing for 126 yards on 9-of-13 passing and a rushing touchdown. He had a poise that isn’t typically seen in a backup quarterback in a difficult situation. Kentucky’s defense was terrific in the first half of that game, but Trask proved capable to play at a high level.

The goal now for the Gators is to continue to build on that confidence. The offensive line has done a fine job to start the season, only allowing a sack per game, it will be key to keep a clean pocket for a quarterback who hasn’t started a game since his freshman year in high school.

In addition to the line, Van Jefferson and Josh Hammond will need to be the play makers they’re capable of for their inexperienced quarterback. Hammond was mostly quiet in week three until breaking a 76-yard touchdown run to ice the game late in the fourth quarter. Jefferson has been really good the past two weeks for the Gators, and he may need to put together that sort of performance again.

Trask replaced Franks as the starter last season in their game against Missouri, and did a decent job until injuring his foot and having to sit out for the season. Now he gets his chance again, and he has a great opportunity to prove himself again.
