Texas A&M football faces off against No. 8 Auburn, live from Kyle Field, on Saturday. Do the Aggies have what it takes to pull this one off?
In two chances, Kellen Mond has yet to beat the Auburn Tigers. Is now the time? Can he pull off the win that this team so desperately needs it when they are facing a schedule like the Aggies are right now? I like to think that the Maroon and White have the ability to pull this one off and here is why I think that.
Let’s talk reasons the Aggies will pull off the upset.
3. Braden Mann will pin the Tigers deep
Auburn’s offense hasn’t been all that great, as we will talk about in an upcoming reason, but even worse has been their punting game. They are dead last in the SEC and 127th in the nation in punting.
So, what does that mean? It means that they aren’t going to be giving the Aggies difficult field position each drive that a punt is forced.
On the other hand, Texas A&M has the reigning Ray Guy Award winner on their sideline. Braden Mann specializes in pinning other teams deep and not allowing big returns on his punts. His special teams have been A+ last season as well as the start of this one, a big part of the game that many people forget about.
If Mann can keep the Tigers pinned deep when he finds his way onto the field, this is an Aggie win because the defense has been stout, to say the least.
