Wisconsin Football: 3 keys to victory over Michigan in Week 4
By Dante Pryor
Wisconsin football hosts the Michigan Wolverines at Camp Randall Saturday at noon. Here are three keys for a home win for the Badgers.
The Wisconsin Badgers host the Michigan Wolverines after what can only be described as a dominant non-conference slate. The Badgers did not allow a point in two non-conference games, and their offense looked to be running rather smoothly with All-American running back Jonathan Taylor leading the way.
Defensively, they took care of business against two inferior opponents. The Badgers’ front-seven looked like they have the potential to be one of the better fronts in the conference. All in all the Badgers look poised to reclaim the title of “King in the West” and return to Indianapolis to play for a Big Ten championship.
Here’s what the Badgers must do in order to claim a victory over Michigan.
3. Keep Michigan offense off track
The Wolverines don’t have a lot to brag about as it concerns their non-conference slate. They got off to a slow start against Middle Tennessee State, and escaped the Big House with a win against Army.
Their new spread offense has yet to be at its best. Shea Patterson has been streaky and looked uncomfortable behind the wheel of this new offense. He’s been sacked six times and has lost three fumbles in two games against inferior teams.
The Wisconsin defense has to take advantage of the sputtering Michigan offense. They’ll mix coverages and look to stop freshman running back Zach Charbonnet (if healthy) from going off.
The Wolverines won’t have Chris Evans running the ball at all this season, and Donovan Peoples-Jones might or might not play Saturday, both huge blows from what is supposed to be an explosive offense.
