Wisconsin Football: 3 keys to victory over Michigan in Week 4
By Kyle Grondin
2. Utilize Jonathan Taylor, the best player in the nation
Through two weeks, you can debate that Jonathan Taylor has been the best player in college football.
The superstar running back has eight touchdowns in two games, five rushing and three receiving touchdowns to start the season.
This is no surprise, as Taylor has been the workhorse for the Badgers for the past three seasons now. What is surprising is his work in the passing game. He’s talked about how important it was for him to work hard and see it pay dividends for himself, and it has paid dividends for Wisconsin in a big way as well.
Teams in the past would be able to key on Taylor in the running game, and typically expect a pass when Garrett Groshek gave him a rest. That level of unpredictability is huge for the Badgers, and with Michigan’s defense looking shaky defending the run last week, expect a lot of stacked boxes, with the Wolverines trying to keep Taylor at bay. If he can continue to be a factor in the passing game, it makes the Wolverines job that much harder to contain him.
Michigan’s run defense has surrendered 133 yards per game through two games, expect them to put all effort into trying to fix that against the best player in the country.
