Boise State Football: Hank Bachmeier plays hero again vs. Air Force
How many teams would love to have a freshman quarterback like Boise State football’s Hank Bachmeier? He worked his magic again vs. Air Force.
He did it again. After dazzling fans through the first three weeks of his college football career, Boise State’s Hank Bachmeier worked his magic yet again in a 30-19 Mountain West win over Air Force.
On a day when the Broncos’ run game was non-existent (93 yards on 29 carries), Bachmeier put the offense on his back to an 11-point win over a team that had just gone on the road to upset a tough Colorado team. The Falcons were able to run wild over the Broncos’ defense — because that’s what this team does — as they finished with 242 yards and a touchdown on 51 carries.
But Bachmeier stole the show, leading all offensive players with 263 yards and two touchdowns through the air on 19-of-26 passing. He was poised in the pocket, accurate and smart with the football for 60 minutes which is rare for most quarterbacks, especially first-year players at this level. He’s not playing like a freshman.
Through four games, he has 1,190 yards, six touchdowns and three picks. He’s also completing 64 percent of his passes. He’s quickly becoming a household name not just in Boise but around the nation as well. And the Mountain West has to deal with him for another 2-3 years.
Bachmeier might just mess around and lead the Broncos to a New Year’s Six berth after a solid 4-0 start and top-20 ranking. It’s difficult to imagine another Mountain West team knocking off these red-hot Broncos.
