LSU Football: 3 takeaways from blowout win over Vanderbilt in Week 4
1. Joe Burrow could be the Heisman favorite
Joe Burrow had another lights out game and had his way with the Vanderbilt defense. He put up some ridiculous stats yet again, this time coming against their first SEC opponent of the season. Burrow was 25-for-34 passing, for 398 yards and six touchdowns. Did I mention he did all this before the fourth quarter?
Burrow played three quarters and was then able to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines and let his back up Myles Brennan finish the game.
Burrow set the school touchdown pass record according to the ESPN broadcast all in three quarters. Burrow has had multiple touchdowns in each game so far and is on pace to set every LSU quarterback record.
The senior quarterback had the LSU offense moving from the get go and moving fast. LSU scored touchdowns on its first four possessions and each possession was under five plays. While Vanderbilt has problems to fix on defense, Burrow’s performance would have been impressive against air. He has a chance to not only find himself in New York at the end of the year, but potentially winning the award as well.
