Washington Football: 3 takeaways from road duel with BYU in Week 4

3. Jacob Eason asserted his presence at quarterback
As Washington went 2-1 in their first two games, Jacob Eason put up respectable stats but hardly looked like the world-beater the Huskies hoped they acquired as a transfer student. In a stadium that has seen plenty of top-shelf quarterbacks feature on its turf, though, Eason finally broke out with the performance everyone expected when he transferred from Georgia.
Nearly perfect in the first half, Jacob Eason finished the first two quarters in Provo 18-of-20 for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The former Bulldogs quarterback tossed 17-yard scoring strikes to Aaron Fuller and Richard Newton to help Washington build up a 24-12 lead by the intermission.
In the second half, Eason threw the ball far less as Washington played the clock and tried to shorten the game. Over the third and fourth quarter, Eason threw only eight times, completing six of those passes for 84 yards with a touchdown and an interception that BYU converted into their only touchdown of the second half.
Other than that one mistake, though, Eason was stellar under center for the Huskies. Eason has not disappointed as the heir to Jake Browning’s starting spot in Seattle, a big reason why Chris Petersen’s team remains a threat in the Pac-12 this year.
