There was quite a bit of shakeup after Week 4 in the college football AP Top 25 with lots of movement. Here are your biggest winners and losers.
Before we get into the big guns, let’s talk honorable mention winners and losers. Washington State fell to UCLA in disappointing fashion, pushing them out of the rankings. There was little to no defense in that one as UCLA won an instant classic, 67-63. It had flashbacks of that Texas A&M vs. UCLA game a couple of years ago which really pushed Kevin Sumlin out of town.
Notre Dame fell to Georgia and while that doesn’t mean that Notre Dame isn’t good as the score was close. On that note though, they fall three spots to No. 10 in the nation this week and are likely out of the playoff discussion — for now.
Our honorable mention winners are the three newcomers to the rankings. USC knocked off Utah on Friday and moved their way into the rankings, sitting at No. 21. They keep Clay Helton safe for at least one more week.
Kansas State was off this week, but their win against Mississippi State in Week 3 was good enough to give them the move into the rankings. Michigan State moves back into the rankings after a win against Northwestern. I’m not sure they deserve that spot as of yet, but they did look pretty good throughout the matchup with Northwestern.
On that note, let’s talk winners and losers, starting with the bad news: The losers of Week 5’s AP Top 25.
