College Football Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 5 – Wisconsin rising
By Zach Bigalke
Auburn went to Kyle Field and built up a big lead against No. 17 Texas A&M before allowing the Aggies to claw back in a 28-20 thriller. The Tigers were up 14-0 after the first quarter, held an 11-point lead at the half, and went ahead 21-3 after three quarters. A frantic fourth quarter allowed the home side to make the game closer than it was for most of the duration.
Bo Nix continues to develop as a quarterback, as he finished 12-of-20 but threw for just 100 yards and a touchdown along the way. Nix added 38 yards on a dozen carries, contributing to a 193-yard effort on the ground by the Tigers. JaTarvious Whitlow led the way with 67 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, and Anthony Schwartz added a 57-yard touchdown run on his only handoff of the day.
With the win, Auburn continues to threaten a move up the AP Top 25. They could move up a spot this week thanks to Georgia and Notre Dame playing against one another, and another big home test against Mississippi State awaits next weekend as they continue to seal up a spot in the top 10 and make their push for a spot in the College Football Playoff field.
