Illinois Football: 3 takeaways from tough loss to Nebraska in Week 4

2. Run game was productive

On the second play of the game, senior running back Reggie Corbin ran the ball 66 yards for a touchdown to put the Illini up 7-0. He would have a solid game as he had the majority of the carries out of the Illinois backfield.

Junior running back Ra’Von Bonner ran for two yards for the third touchdown for the game for Illinois as the Fighting Illini increased their lead to 14, making it 21-7 in the second quarter. Bonner didn’t get a lot of carries but his touchdown had an impact on the game.

Dre Brown, another senior running back, ran for 36 yards and a touchdown, which was the third rushing score of the game for Illinois. The touchdown put Illinois up 28-14 in the third quarter.

The fourth rushing score came from Brandon Peters who had a 10-yard touchdown to give Illinois the lead in the fourth quarter. He didn’t have many rushing yards on the game but the touchdown came at a critical point in the game.
