Notre Dame football hit the road and suffered a tough loss at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs. What did we learn from the Fighting Irish loss?

Saturday night provided another tremendous primetime affair, this time between Georgia and Notre Dame. The Bulldogs got the hard fought win by a score of 23-17, and this matchup came down to the very end.

The Irish couldn’t complete the comeback, but they were able to make to that final score after trailing for a large chunk of the fourth quarter by a 21-10 margin.

For Kirby Smart and Georgia, this is a massive win, and an even bigger boost of momentum as they enter the meat of 2019’s SEC lineup. They get a bye week, and then they’ll travel to Tennessee to open October.

For the Irish, this doesn’t end the playoff hopes, but it dampens them. They played the number three team in the nation close on Saturday, and the goal now is that Saturday’s loss is 2019’s only loss.

This was Saturday’s marquee matchup, and while the favorite won, this was a far better game than many expected. Here’s what we learned from Georgia and Notre Dame’s date under the lights in Athens.
