Wisconsin football made a statement by defeating the Michigan Wolverines 35-14 in Madison on Saturday. Which position group graded the highest?

Wisconsin was favored against Michigan on Saturday but no one expected the Badgers to completely run away with a three-touchdown win.

Which position group graded out the highest?

Offense

The Badger offense had its way with the Michigan defense. They got whatever they wanted, and they wanted to run, a lot. The offensive line was crisp, and finished blocks. It was the Badger offense about as good as it can run.

Quarterback: A-

Jack Coan was everything the Badgers want their quarterback to be in this game. He didn’t turn the ball over, and although he didn’t throw a touchdown pass, he ran for two scores. He led the offense, and did all that was asked of him. The Badgers want the passing game to be complimentary, and when they needed to complete a pass, Coan delivered.

Running Backs: A

Your letter grade gets a boost when your feature tail back is Jonathan Taylor. He ran all over the Michigan defense to the tune of 203 yards and two touchdowns. The co-stars of the running game added an additional 156 yards and three scores.

Receivers/Tight Ends: B

The only reason this group gets a B is they didn’t throw the ball much, and the receiving corps didn’t score. However, they got two chunk plays from Garret Groshek and Quintez Cephas in the pass game. The tight ends did a wonderful job of seal blocking all game long when they ran a trap, or off tackle, and they were a bit banged up at tight end coming into the game.

Offensive Line: A

The Badger offensive line broke the spirit of the Michigan defense. The Wolverines looked ready to head home by the middle of the third quarter. The running backs were in the second level all game long. The Wolverines had one sack, which is why they don’t get an A+, but Coan wasn’t pressured otherwise.
