Week 4 was loaded with marquee matchups. What would the College Football Playoff field look like one-third of the way through the season?

This was, outside of the opening weekend, by far the most anticipated slate of games in this young season. Despite the hype, only one team within the top four was involved in a big game.

Both Alabama and Clemson rolled to victories in huge mismatches. Oklahoma was on a bye.

It was Georgia, however, that played in the week’s marquee game. The Bulldogs hosted Notre Dame in Athens, and would take home a hard-fought, 23-17 victory.

The top four has been a bit common, but there is a lot of excitement on the outside. LSU is waiting for its chance to break in. Ohio State is waiting for one of these teams to slip.

More than in the last couple seasons, it feels like losses will be tough to overcome. There are great teams waiting to occupy these spots the moment one of these teams falter. It has been stagnant for now, but with conference play now here, dominoes may begin to fall.
