The Heisman Trophy race is more competitive than many people thought going into this year. What do the Heisman power rankings look after Week 4?

Another excellent week of college football is in the books, and it might’ve just been the best one yet. We saw two games against top-ranked opponents, and plenty of top players made statements. Whether you were facing an in-conference rival or a weaker opponent outside of the top five, there were plenty of great performances that must be taken into account for this week’s Heisman power rankings.

After another week of statement games by top players, who remains at the top of the rankings? Before we get to that, let’s look at the honorable mentions.

Anthony Gordon, QB, Washington State

Mike Leach’s offense brings out another quarterback who can bring points like rain in April. Anthony Gordon is the new man in charge of the Cougars, replacing Gardner Minshew. Although no one is going to have the swagger of Minshew, Gordon is at least leading in the statistical categories. His nine touchdowns (you read that correctly) in his last game weren’t enough to win, but they proved that he is a force to be reckoned with in the Pac-12.

Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

Justin Herbert just remains in that second tier of Heisman prospects. He’s a great talent. The stats are good. He even has the name recognition. However, he’s just not going to win the award unless something drastically changes.

Chuba Hubbard, RB, Oklahoma State

Chuba Hubbard leads the country in rushing touchdowns and yards. It looks like Oklahoma State will rely on him heavily this season in their offense, and he has lived up to the expectations. Watch out for him to stay in this debate all season, especially if the Cowboys can upset some teams this year.
