Notre Dame Football: 3 overreactions from loss to Georgia in Week 4
1. Notre Dame can hang with anyone
It was only a six-point loss to the No. 3 team in the country on the road, so Notre Dame proved that it can hang with just about anyone, right?
To an extent, yes. The Fighting Irish looked much tougher than people gave them credit for, even as the No. 7 team in the country. Everyone just assumed the Bulldogs would roll through Notre Dame with relative ease and win by two touchdowns.
That wasn’t the case as Brian Kelly had his guys ready, they played solid defense and Ian Book had a decent game outside of the two interceptions.
Notre Dame’s defense kept it in the game, allowing just over 330 total yards and only 23 points in front of a raucous Georgia crowd and Book did his best with no run game to be found behind him.
Maybe Notre Dame can hang with most teams and showed that it put the loss to Clemson in the playoff from a year ago in the rearview mirror, but I don’t think anyone is ready to go all-in on the Irish just yet.
