College football’s Week 5 brings nearly a full conference slate. With a few ranked teams facing tests on the road, are there upsets in the making?

Hard to believe we are already a third of the way through the college football regular season and the last weekend in September is upon us. With it though comes a bunch of conference games and big matchups.

Recapping last week’s picks, we correctly predicted two out of five upsets. SMU pulled off a stunner on the road at TCU. Also the 10th-ranked Utah Utes fell on the road to USC. The Pac-12 is difficult to predict and their teams are likely to continue to be a part of the weekly upset alert picks. We were close with the Notre Dame over Georgia pick, but the Bulldogs pulled off the victory and severely damaged the Irish’s playoff hopes in the process.

The biggest upset of the week, one we did not see coming, was Pitt beating UCF 35-34. The Panthers were 11-point underdogs at home and weren’t expected to do much coming off a tough loss at Penn State. But they ended up breaking UCF’s 29-game non bowl winning streak.

As the conference games start in earnest, teams can ill afford an early loss. Which teams need to be mindful of the upset this week and avoid an early conference pitfall? The odds for each game are provided by Bovada.
