Penn State hits the road for the first time this season, facing off against Maryland Friday night in College Park. The Nittany Lions are favored by seven points over the Terps.

Penn State is sitting at 3-0, but there have been some troubling signs the last couple weeks. Against Buffalo, the Lions were down three at halftime before they finally woke up and took advantage of their talent mismatch. In the Pitt game, the Panthers outplayed the Lions for most of the game and if it was not for a head scratching decision by Pat Narduzzi late in the game, the Lions probably would have lost.

Penn State’s big glaring problem resides with their offensive line woes. They have not established a consistent rushing attack and in the Pitt game especially, quarterback Sean Clifford was harassed and battered throughout the game. Now Clifford has the challenge of his first road game in what could be a fairly hostile environment.

Maryland got off to a hot start this season hammering both Howard and Syracuse, climbing into the top 25 polls. The Terps were then cooled off by Temple two weeks ago before getting a bye week.

Both teams had two weeks to prepare for this one. Whichever team corrects their weaknesses will likely prevail. This will be one of the biggest games in College Park in a long time. The Terps will bring everything they have against the Lions and could end up pulling a big time upset.
