It’s Week 5 of college football and although the top of the top is clear, things are still exciting across the nation. Care to binge-watch? Here is your guide.
Last week did not go as planned for me as I finished eight out of 13 on the week, pushing my record to 36-13 on the season. I would like to personally blame the Pac-12 for any and every shortcoming that my record shows. But, without further ado, let’s talk binge-watch guide for Week 5, starting on Friday night.
No. 12 Penn State at Maryland (8 p.m. ET on FS1)
This has the potential to be a good game, though it depends on which Maryland team shows up. Will it be the one who puts up ungodly amounts of offense or the one who lost to Temple in Week 3? Penn State skated by Pitt in Week 3, only winning by a score of 17-10. Assuming the Maryland offense shows up, that won’t be enough to get them by the Terrapins. It is the Big Ten opener for both teams and Maryland is calling for a “blackout,” so things could get interesting in a hurry.
Prediction: Penn State just has the upper hand on depth and talent in this one and while it’ll come down to the wire, this is a Nittany Lions win for sure.
No. 15 Cal at Arizona State (10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN)
This is one I’m excited for. I’m not sure that the Golden Bears deserve to be ranked as high as they are, but here we are. They haven’t dominated in any game they have played this season and have played less than reputable teams outside of the one-point win over Washington that catapulted them into the rankings.
On the other side, Arizona State pushed themselves into the rankings after knocking off Michigan State just to promptly fall out after losing to Colorado. The question is, which — if either — of these teams are actually good?
Prediction: In a game that is extremely close, Arizona State comes out on top in a game that may include a questionable call or two.
