1. Maryland pulls off the upset

Based on how these two teams have played so far this season, it’s a bit surprising that Penn State is ranked as high as they are and that they’re favored to win by a touchdown on the road against an offense that at times is playing like a top-10 team.

It’s especially surprising when you take into account how bad their secondary is, but by every definition a Maryland win on Friday night will be an upset and that’s exactly what we’re going to see as the Terps shred the Nittany Lions to such a degree that they’re knocked out of the top 25 and any hopes of making the playoff go down the drain.

The only question will be is how will the polls respond to this type of Maryland victory after having just lost to Temple. From one perspective, this would be the second win over a top 25 opponent and if they can win in a similar fashion as they did against Syracuse — who they beat 63-20, then we might even see Maryland in the top 25.

Just like the Syracuse game in Week 2, the Penn State game is being played at home in front of a fanbase that’s never been more excited about their football team. Expect to see Capital One Field rockin’ and rollin’ this Friday night as the Terps continue to put up video game-type numbers against their first Big Ten opponent of the season.
