Big Ten Football Power Rankings, Week 5: Wisconsin, Ohio State battle for No. 1
It is still early in the season, but it seems that the Northwestern Wildcats chances of getting back to the conference title game went out the window this past Saturday. The Wildcats do not pass the eye test and a team that was a top the West division last season, could find themselves towards the bottom at this season’s end.
The Purdue Boilermakers are a head scratcher. It almost seems that Purdue wins the games they shouldn’t and loses the games they should win. And we could see that same scenario play out this Saturday against Minnesota. Can the Boilermakers pick up the the much needed win? Or do they drop another to a lesser opponent.
There was a lot of hype surrounding the Nebraska Cornhuskers this offseason. And after struggling to defeat Illinois last weekend, signs are pointing at the fact the Cornhuskers are still a year or two away from being “that” team. The Cornhuskers have a tough home game against Ohio State on Saturday but this could be just the game that gets them over the hump.
The Michigan State Spartans bounced back from their loss to Arizona State with a big conference opening win against Northwestern. The Spartans defense has been dominate this season and looks to be what will carry them however far they’ll go. Another win is in the future as the Spartans take on Indiana this Saturday.
