Auburn football won in blowout fashion against Mississippi State on Saturday. What did we learn from the Tigers’ big Week 5 victory?

Auburn already had a couple big wins under their belt in 2019, but never had they looked as dominant as they did on Saturday against Mississippi State.

What’d we learn from the Tigers’ Week 5 win?

3. Fast-starting Tigers

At the end of the first quarter, the score was 21-6. By halftime, it was 42-9. In the blink of an eye, Auburn had hit the over almost by themselves.

Just over two minutes in, JaTarvious Whitlow found the end zone on a 30-yard carry. A couple minutes later, Bo Nix ran in for a nine-yard score. Under a minute later, Anthony Schwartz did the same from 13 yards out.

During the Malzahn era, the Tigers have been at their best when they are a quick-striking team that can then rely on the ground game. On Saturday, you couldn’t have asked for a better example of that.
