1. Oklahoma State may actually be a serious contender

Let’s face it, during a year when there is no true threat outside of Texas and Oklahoma in the Big 12, Oklahoma State could rise up and be that third team.

The Cowboys also have a favorable schedule moving forward and a win over a ranked Kansas State team will go a long way. Oklahoma State is 4-1 on the season with a close loss to Texas and the Longhorns weren’t exactly dominant against the Cowboys, so that shows just how close these teams are.

Oklahoma State has road games at Texas Tech, Iowa State and West Virginia left on the docket and those are all winnable and the Cowboys will likely be favored in each one.

Coming into the season, I didn’t expect Oklahoma State to contend, but that has changed.

Oklahoma State might be putting the entire conference on notice in the first month and the Cowboys are only getting stronger.
