Penn State football absolutely dismantled Maryland Friday night. What are three takeaways from the Nittany Lion 59-0 victory?

Final. 59. 806. 0. 824

Penn State and Maryland played under the lights in College Park Friday night. The team in blue and white showed up while the home team forgot it was game time and fell completely flat.

The Nittany Lions won in a runaway, getting a shutout victory while racking up 59 points. Everything clicked for Penn State while nothing went right for Maryland. Here are three takeaways from the game.

3. Maryland not ready for primetime

Many were picking Maryland to keep this close or even pull the upset, this humble writer included. It was a bad omen from the start with a Maryland player stumbling and falling during the team entrance. It never got better for the Terps.

Turnovers were a problem.

Quarterback Josh Jackson threw an interception on the first drive of the game which Penn State promptly turned into seven points. He would throw another later with the Terps in the redzone and trying to cut Penn State’s lead in half. It would be the closest Maryland would get to scoring.

This was Maryland’s Super Bowl. It was declared a stadium Blackout and the game was sold out. The biggest game on Maryland’s campus in years and Penn State pummeled them from start to finish.
