UCF football took out its frustrations from the Pitt loss on UConn. Here are three things we learned from the Week 5 rout of the Huskies in Orlando.

When they dropped a regular-season game for the first time in more than two years on a last-minute heartbreaker by Pitt, it looked like it might be dangerous for UConn. The Knights remained in the rankings, but they looked intent on proving themselves anew. They did just that as UCF crushed the Huskies 56-21 in the battle formerly known as the Civil COnFLict.

Randy Edsall’s team had no chance on Saturday in Orlando, as the home side slowly strangled any hope out of the Huskies. Up 28-0 before the end of the first quarter, UCF kept the heat on as they ran away with a 35-point blowout at Spectrum Stadium. Though they weren’t able to shut out the Huskies, the win was more than decisive enough to get the Knights back on track.

With the victory, Josh Heupel’s crew started up what they hope will be another long winning streak. Though dreams of a College Football Playoff berth died in Pittsburgh a week ago, the schedule still lines up nicely for another run at the New Year’s Six.

In a blowout of this magnitude against an overmatched opponent, it can be dangerous to read too much into the result. But there are some worthwhile things to extrapolate from the result. Here are three things to take away from the lopsided victory on Saturday evening in Orlando.
