UCF Football: 3 takeaways from home blowout over UConn

3. Gabriel Davis inserted his name in the Biletnikoff discussion
There have been a slew of great receiving performances across the country. In Week 5 alone, several stars who appeared on the Biletnikoff Award watch list asserted their claim as one of the top receivers in the country. There is still a ton of time for the top pass-catchers to separate themselves from the pack, but UCF receiver Gabriel Davis certainly put his name up for discussion against UConn.
Davis caught all three of Dillon Gabriel’s touchdown passes, hauling in scores of 73 yards, 16 yards, and 13 yards. Over the course of the game, the receiver finished with five catches for 119 receiving yards.
It was a dominant display against a UConn secondary that seemed to have few answers for how to stop the fleet receiver. Davis had his way with the Huskies, a threat to break one open whenever he was on the field.
For Davis, it was his third game of the year with multiple touchdowns and the second straight week where the receiver topped triple digits in receiving yards. Now hovering just under 500 receiving yards and boasting eight touchdowns before we reach October, Davis proved that he can bust open a game by himself. That will go a long way in the Biletnikoff discussion a few months from now.
