Florida State football took care of business at home vs. NC State in Week 5. Here are three takeaways from the much-needed victory in Tallahassee.

Transfer quarterback Alex Hornibrook filled in brilliantly for the Florida State football team on Saturday night, completed 29 of his 40 passes and throwing for over 300 yards in the absence of James Blackmon. The regular starter for the Seminoles, James Blackman, re-injured his knee on Friday and was not available for the showdown with the Wolfpack on Saturday.

Florida State has had a tough go of it this season starting off with losses to Boise State and Virginia, oftentimes not being able to close games. Giving up a 17 point lead to Boise State late in the fourth and blowing a lead at Virginia as well. Florida State turned that around as they outscored the Wolfpack in the second half and put the game away 31-13.

Hornibrook had a career night throwing for three touchdowns adding to his impressive 300-plus yard performance. The Wolfpack provided pressure all night making Hornibrook’s job that much harder, but the senior transfer was able to stay poised in the pocket and complete passes.

NC State struggled on offense all night, only running for 88 yards as an entire team and becoming one dimensional at times relying on quarterback Bailey Hockman to move the offense. Hockman was only able to complete 21-of-40 passes for 208 yards but helped NC State stay in the game.

Here are the three biggest takeaways from the ACC showdown in Tallahassee.
