Florida State Football: 3 takeaways from win vs. NC State in Week 5
3. Alex Hornibrook provided a spark
Alex Hornibrook started his first game since the beginning of the 2018 college football season but looked like a quarterback that was under control for most of the game vs. NC State. While only playing on the back end of last week’s game against Louisville and leading the Seminoles to a win at home 35-24 you could tell the Noles offense was different with him out there.
While Justin Blackmon is the clear future of the Florida State football program, Hornibrook might be their best option in 2019. Especially with James Blackman hobbled by an injury, Hornibrook has been able to move the ball well at great efficiency. Completing 73 percent of his passes so far, the transfer quarterback from Wisconsin has to have the Seminole faithful looking hopeful for the rest of the year.
There is a spark that you can’t explain when Hornibrook has been out there on offense. Akers looks like he is more comfortable and the quick throws give the offensive line some sort of reprieve. Look for Hornibrook to stay the course and provide the same spark in the next matchups for FSU.
