2020 NFL Mock Draft, Week 6: Chase Young takes top spot
By Phil Poling
The Jacksonville Jaguars appear to have found a solid starter at quarterback in Gardner Minshew, but now it’s time to find him some weapons. Clemson’s Tee Higgins seems like the perfect fit.
Higgins exploded in 2018 with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, catching 59 passes for nearly a thousand yards while also scoring 12 times. And at 6-foot-4, he presents a mismatch for any defense even at the NFL level. Higgins looks like a man among boys in college, and that isn’t necessarily going to change at the next level, unless he shrinks or something.
The Jags’ top target this season is 6-foot-4 D.J. Chark, who they drafted out of LSU in 2018. And with running back Leonard Fournette’s injury history, giving Minshew another option on the outside could open things up in the middle of opposing defenses.
With both Chark and Higgins — and their elite size — on the outside, defenses would be taking a huge gamble leaving their cornerbacks one-on-one on each side. If they’re able to keep the box light for Fournette, his career could really take off, helping the team tremendously.
