30. Offensive Line. Stanford Cardinal. 5. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Walker Little

The New York Jets finally have a quarterback in Sam Darnold, and the addition of Le’Veon Bell gives them a threat on both the ground and in the air that they’ve lacked. Adding a player that can immediately help both Darnold and Bell should be the objective: Stanford’s Walker Little checks off both boxes.

Little is, to put it simply, far from little. He stands 6-foot-7 and weighs in at around 300 pounds, giving the Jets a player who could be a long-term answer at either tackle position. He was the first true freshman to start at left tackle for Stanford since 2000, and held the position down for the entirety of the 2018 season as well (12 games).

His efforts as a sophomore earned him first-team All-Pac-12 honors, which catapulted him onto the watch list for the 2019 Outland Trophy, as well as being named a preseason first-team All-American from a handful of outlets.

Unlike the Cardinals and Bengals who (mock) drafted before them, the Jets decided to protect their quarterback. Sure, a player like Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb or Clemson’s Tee Higgins would make fantasy football experts salivate, but without a healthy quarterback, NFL teams are doomed. And the best way to protect quarterbacks isn’t by drafting players who catch the ball for them, instead it’s about addressing the players who catch blocks for them.
