2. Butch Jones

Butch Jones is in his second year as an analyst under Nick Saban at Alabama. Prior to that gig, he was the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. He is actually the only coach since Phillip Fulmer to have back-to-back successful seasons with the Vols. After the most embarrassing season in Tennessee football history — so far, Butch was fired.

Jones had pretty successful teams at both Central Michigan and Cincinnati. Now, he did follow current Notre Dame head coach, Brian Kelly, at both of those jobs. So, how much of that success was Butch Jones’ is unknown.

One thing the he can do is recruit. He recruited the current quarterback of the Vols, Jarrett Guarantano. Jarret happens to be from Lodi, New Jersey, which is about 45 minutes from the Rutgers campus. Jarret’s father, James, played for the Scarlet Knights between 1989 and 1992.

With that begin said, if things don’t work out for Jarret at Tennessee and Jones is hired at Rutgers, then a transfer is very likely.
