The slate of games in college football for Week 6 is strong, led by what might be the game of the year so far. Which games are the most important?
This weekend in college football is about one game and one game only. There are a few other nice matchups sprinkled in that we’re going to talk about first though. Trust me. The big game will get its due.
Last weekend was a bit of a disappointing slate as Auburn crushed Mississippi State, Cal lost to Arizona State ending any chance it had to make noise on a national scale, Wisconsin looked abysmal against Northwestern, Notre Dame handled Virginia with ease, and Ohio State set Nebraska football back a few decades.
We’ll be into October when this weekend gets here and beginning to creep down into the depths of conference play. Heavyweight matchups will be upon us almost every weekend from here on out. Whether all of the teams in those games in the coming months still have a shot to make the College Football Playoff remains to be seen. But for at least this week, they do.
The best part about the season still being relatively young is we get teams like Iowa with a ton to play for still. The rest of the season for the Hawkeyes could go one of many different ways, but as of today, you have to respect what they’ve done and respect what potential paths lie ahead of them. It was the same for Cal last week. Just, unfortunately for Cal, it couldn’t find a win against a tough conference opponent.
Bear with me as we work our way through some games leading up to the big one that will highlight the weekend. I promise I can make the other games seem just as intriguing, especially as they relate to the College Football Playoff.
