We’ve seen a blowout, comeback, offensive fireworks and a stalwart defensive performance. What will October bring for Oklahoma State football?

Oklahoma State’s 2019 football season is difficult to assess after its first five games. A finely-tuned offensive machine under first-year coordinator Sean Gleeson and redshirt quarterback Spencer Sanders put on a show in a 56-35 Week 1 win against Oregon State, quickly followed by a dismantling of FCS opponent McNeese State.

Things got interesting as the Cowboys trailed, 21-20, against in-state opponent Tulsa. After emerging with a 40-21 after a nearly flawless second half, the Pokes took the road against No. 12 Texas and put up an admirable fight before falling, 36-30. Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger carved up the OSU defense with 20-of-28 passing for 281 yards and four touchdowns.

Last week’s 26-13 win against No. 24 Kansas State in the friendly confines of Boone Pickens Stadium (named after the wealthy benefactor who passed away a couple weeks into this year’s season) brought some level of comfort to OSU fans, because we saw this team underachieve against several Big 12 squads last season.

After the ups and downs of 2019 thus far, what will the month of October portend for the Cowboys?
