Oklahoma State football: 5 bold predictions for October 2019
By John Scimeca
5. Chuba Hubbard continues to lead the nation in rushing
Through Week 5 action, dynamite running back Chuba Hubbard leads the nation in rushing — and it ain’t even close.
The Alberta native has rushed for 938 yards through five games so far, good for an average of 187.6 yards per game. He’s also scored 10 rushing touchdowns and is averaging an absurd 7.3 yards per carry. The next leading rushers in the nation right now are J.K. Dobbins of Ohio State (654 yards) and AJ Dillion of Boston College (627 yards).
Hubbard’s explosiveness and breakaway speed have been showcased in many different scenarios this season, including an 84-yard touchdown run to begin the second half against Kansas State in Week 5. Hubbard’s athleticism works in tandem with Spencer Sanders’ scrambling ability and wideout Tylan Wallace’s downfield prowess.
The only part that seems so “bold” about this particular prediction is that there are only three games for OSU in October. Here’s predicting that Hubbard will still stand alone atop the leaderboard by Halloween.
