College football’s Week 5 altered the perception of the national powers. Zach and John discuss the shifting landscape, and then preview a big Week 6.

While we still haven’t had a wildly chaotic week of college football at the top of the polls, Week 5 showed how quickly that can change. While the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, and Oklahoma continued to dominant lesser opponents, Clemson — the team most thought wouldn’t be seriously challenged until the College Football Playoff — just avoided a massive upset in Chapel Hill against North Carolina.

Clemson dropped to No. 2 in both the AP and Coaches Polls, but if it was up to Zach and John, the Tigers would have dropped even further.

Was there a bigger surprise result than Clemson’s near-miss against North Carolina? Who pulled off the best win of the week? What about the worst loss? Our two hosts discuss all of that in the first segment, while carving out a little bit of time to discuss California’s landmark law that could allow college athletes to profit off of their likeness.

In the second segment, Zach and John move on to preview a massive Week 6 of action on the gridiron that features some marquee matchups. UCF and Cincinnati get things started on Friday night in the Queen City in a group-of-five elimination game, Iowa and Michigan meet up in Ann Arbor for a Big Ten showdown, and undefeated SEC powers Auburn and Florida square off in the Swamp to highlight several games that will have a massive impact on conference races and positioning for playoff consideration.

Which teams will score big wins this week? Where should you be putting your money? Find out on this week’s edition of the Saturday Blitz Podcast:

In our final segment, Zach and John highlight a few other games, offering up their picks for upsets against the spread, as well as the biggest locks of the week before diving into some traditional tailgater discussion about what they will be eating and drinking this weekend while enjoying a particularly delicious slate of games.
