Boise State Football: 3 keys to victory vs. UNLV in Week 6
3. Stay on schedule
Boise State has put up 31 points a game, which is modest for a program that has been prolific on the offensive side of the ball in the last few years. Freshman quarterback Hank Bachmeier has been as tough as they come for the Broncos, throwing for almost 1,200 yards and six touchdowns in just his first four collegiate games.
The Broncos weakness on offense has been their offensive line in which they have given up 12 sacks in just the first four games and put a ton of pressure on Bachmeier. For a guy who has just played in his first four games in college, this is the opposite of what you want to see. From the sidelines, Bryan Harsin has looked defeated when it comes to the number of hits his freshman is taking.
Not only will the offensive line have to be better, but the Broncos will also have to get into better situations on second and third down and use their running game to open up the passing game for Bachmeier and the rest of the Broncos. Staying on schedule and giving their freshman time to throw for the first time all year should give him a huge boost of confidence.
