2. Pittsburgh at Duke

When you think of ACC football you typically don’t think of Pittsburgh or Duke. Obviously people think of Clemson, but Florida State, Miami and Virginia Tech usually all come to mind as well. However, this year is different. Pitt and Duke may be better than every team I just listed not named Clemson.

Pittsburgh always seems to surprise people as they showed last year making it to the ACC Championship Game, and this year is no different. The Panthers knocked off UCF in a big upset a few weeks ago and nearly pulled off an upset against Penn State a week prior.

The general thought about Duke heading into the season was the they were going to take a step back this year with Daniel Jones going to the NFL. After getting smoked by Alabama in Week 1 (like most teams do), Duke has shown that it has no intentions of taking a step back. This past weekend, the Blue Devils absolutely destroyed Virginia Tech 45-10 in a Friday night matchup.

This will be the second conference matchup for each school. While Virginia seems to be the favorite to win the Coastal, each team has more than a fighting shot to win it themselves. Duke is 1-0 and Pitt is 0-1 in conference, but there is a lot of ACC play left and a win here would go a long way for each team.

Recapping reasons to watch

  • Conference game
  • Each team is probably better than the “traditional” powers in the ACC
  • Duke is a 5-point favorite
