Tennessee Football: 5 bold predictions for October 2019
What else could go wrong for Tennessee football? With losses to Georgia State, BYU and Florida, there doesn’t seem to be any hope for the Volunteers.
Tennessee’s 2019 season started with inexcusable losses to Georgia State and BYU. Many Vol fans were hopeful for a 7-5 or 8-4 season, but now that we are four games in, that doesn’t look too plausible.
It was a “first week jitters” excuse that kept the Volunteers rolling after a Week 1 embarrassment against Georgia State. A win against BYU would turn things around and allow Tennessee football to move in the right direction. The Cougars had other plans. Tennessee couldn’t get it done for the second week in a row.
As expected, the Vols cruised by Chattanooga, but on the other side, the first SEC game of the year. Florida hasn’t looked too good this season. The pieces are there, the coaching is there, but the talent lacks. Tennessee was excepted to hang with a slightly above average Florida team, but, once again, the opposing team had other plans. The Gators smoked the Vols, 34-3.
The Volunteers are suffering and the worst part is we aren’t even halfway through the season. The roughest patch of their schedule is still ahead with teams such as Georgia, Mississippi State, Alabama, South Carolina and Missouri.
Is there hope for the Volunteers? What will the month of October bring to Knoxville?
