Vanderbilt and Ole Miss football face off in a cross-divisional matchup in Oxford. Could this one be more exciting than we think?

Vanderbilt got its first win of the season last week and is trying to figure out every side of the ball as this secondary is getting torched and their offense is only half working. You never expect much out of Vanderbilt anyway in terms of football, so this shouldn’t be surprising, but it is still in a way disappointing.

Ole Miss has a huge question mark at quarterback. True freshman John Rhys Plumlee got his feet wet against the likes of Alabama after Matt Corral was out with bruised ribs. He wasn’t all that great against the Tide, but no one is. He did pretty well against Cal the week before, though, hitting seven passes and putting up 100 yards with his legs.

However, the Ole Miss secondary isn’t all that great either.

Now, these two teams face off in a game that could be more exciting than what meets the eye.

Here is how you can catch this matchup:

Keys to Victory

For both teams, it is about getting your offense going and shutting down the other team. Neither team has a great secondary and neither has been consistent on offense.

Will Vanderbilt be able to get anything going consistently on the road, even against the struggling Ole Miss Rebels in terms of pass rush? Will Ole Miss be able to settle down on offense and put up the necessary points to beat Vanderbilt? This game is just one big question mark.

Prediction

I don’t think Vanderbilt has what it takes to win this one. They have the talent sure, but I just don’t have faith in the Commodores. That being said, I trust the Rebels about as far as I can throw them, so who knows how this one will turn out. I think it comes out as an Ole Miss victory, though it’ll be a lot closer and more exciting than people think.

Final Score: Ole Miss 38, Vanderbilt 34
