Washington football is on the outside looking into the College Football Playoff. Could a stellar October change all of that for the Huskies?

Many people wrote off Washington football after its loss to California at home. Dropping their first game of the year in only their second game of the season and with hopes of the College Football Playoff (CFP) berth diminishing. They have since rattled off three games in a row and won their last game against a streaking USC team that was ranked No. 21.

The Huskies are looking to continue their winning streak and get three key wins in October to launch them into the top 10 in the country.

If you were one of the very few people that stayed up for the Washington/California matchup that was delayed until 11 p.m. PST and didn’t get over until around 2 a.m., you know how fluky this loss was for the Huskies. Losing by a point to a good Cal team where Jacob Eason had a season-low 150 passing yards in the pouring rain and thunderstorms. This game was off from the very beginning, credit the Bears for winning this game and gutting it out. In no way did the Huskies have any home field advantage and this game feels like a Husky anomaly.

Junior quarterback Jacob Eason has been on fire since the Huskies loss. He has over 1200 yards in the first five games and only two interceptions on the year. The transfer quarterback from Georgia and the former five-star quarterback has made his home college very proud and looking for even more as they go into October.

Defensive Coordinator Jimmy Lake and the Washington defense has been spectacular through the first five games and is looking to carry that momentum into October. The Husky defense has only allowed 17 points a game and limited opposing offenses to 137 yards on the ground while having to be on the field for a ton of possessions with the Husky offense rolling.

Here are five things to look out for in October for the Huskies.
