College Football Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 7 – Florida climbs
By Zach Bigalke
Michigan is going to bounce at least two or three spots up the AP Top 25 after toppling No. 14 Iowa in a defensive struggle at the Big House. Though they managed to compile only 267 yards of offense, the Wolverines prevailed 10-3 thanks to Zach Charbonnet’s two-yard touchdown run in the first quarter that put the Wolverines up by 10.
The Wolverines defense crushed Iowa’s ground game, allowing a net of just one rushing yard. Their ground game was far better by comparison, ending the day with 120 yards on 33 total carries as a team. Shea Patterson went 14-of-26 for 147 yards and an interception, hardly inspiring stats from a team longing to get back in the Big Ten East race.
But the statement win at home against a top-15 opponent will set up the Wolverines to start climbing back up the Top 25 ladder. Next week Jim Harbaugh’s crew heads to Champaign for another interdivisional contest against Illinois, a brief respite before back-to-back battles against Penn State and Notre Dame. That stretch will determine whether Michigan sinks or swims before October ends.
