College Football Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 7 – Florida climbs
By Zach Bigalke
Oklahoma took care of business in Lawrence, pulling away after a first-quarter deficit to overpower Kansas in a 45-20 victory. The Sooners moved to 5-0 heading into the annual Red River Shootout at the Cotton Bowl against Texas, and they will be locked into a top-six spot in the AP Top 25 as they take on a Longhorns team on the cusp of the top 10.
Jalen Hurts quietly put together a dominant performance, coming out with just under 10 minutes left to play after throwing for 228 yards and rushing for 59 with four total touchdowns. Rhamondre Stevenson had another big game for the Sooners as well, rushing for 109 yards — including a 61-yard touchdown — on just five carries, adding an 11-yard catch for good measure.
Getting back into the top five of the poll is going to be difficult as long as everyone above them keeps winning, but the Sooners are going to be in the discussion for the College Football Playoff if they continue to keep dominating their Big 12 competition. The Longhorns game will be the big litmus test for how high Oklahoma can climb.
