3. This is Jim Harbaugh’s year

No, I don’t mean this is the year that Harbaugh finally beats Ohio State and wins a big time bowl game for Michigan. This is the year that he could very well be fired if he doesn’t do just that. Jim Harbaugh has been overwhelmingly criticized throughout his time with Michigan. Maybe, that’s because he is a big name who is coaching a college football powerhouse. Yes, that plays a large role.

However, a greater explanation for the frustration with Harbaugh is that his teams have been very good, but not great. Every year, the Wolverines have a chance to win the Big Ten. They’ve had dominant rushing offenses and stout defenses. But, they have yet to find a star quarterback who can pull the team through in close games.

If Michigan doesn’t win the rest of their games this season, Jim Harbaugh will be fired at the end of the year. His inability to recruit and/or develop a star quarterback will be the ultimate explanation for his disappointing Michigan legacy.
