Notre Dame football didn’t fall for the trap in a dominant win against the Bowling Green Falcons in Week 6. What’d we learn?

The narrative out of South Bend this season has been that they want to be considered among the elite national programs in college football. How do you perpetuate this narrative? You have to do what the Irish did today; dominate inferior opponents.

The Irish shut out the Bowling Green Falcons 52-0 on Saturday afternoon. That’s exactly what should have happened as well. The Falcons were undermanned, and over matched in this game. These types of games the most dangerous opponent isn’t the one across the field; it’s the one in the mirror.

Elite teams take care of business because they are task oriented. They trust their preparation and their coaching. That’s exactly what the Irish did. Here are three takeaways from the Irish win.

3. The trenches were sound

Bowling Green was over-matched in every position on the field today. So, the one place you look for dominance is in the trenches. If you can win upfront, that gives every other position on the field an opportunity to do well.

Both the offensive and defensive lines were physical exerting their will on the Bowling Green offensive and defensive lines all game long.

They looked like they wanted to dominate the game and they did.
