By Zach Bigalke
Oklahoma football found itself in a drag-down fight before pulling away against Kansas in Week 6. Here is what we learned from the Big 12 showdown.
After a tense first half, Oklahoma found their stride late in the second quarter to take a 21-7 lead into the locker room at halftime of their Week 6 showdown against Kansas.
The Jayhawks actually took a first-quarter lead in front of their home crowd, and they threatened to score several other times through the course of the opening half. But the Sooners eventually started to exert their will on their Big 12 foe as they prevailed 45-20 on the road.
Kansas had shown major strides in their first season under new head coach Les Miles, but they were unable to pull off the upset against a Sooners squad that hopes to dominate the Big 12 once again this season. With the win, Oklahoma continues to make their case for consideration as one of the top four teams in the country.
Lincoln Riley’s team shook off the early cobwebs with ease and left no question about which program fielded the better squad on Saturday. Home fans in Lawrence were forced to watch in disappointment as their Jayhawks fell to 2-4 on the season and Oklahoma moved to 5-0 at their expense.
What should we take away from this Big 12 mismatch? Here are three lessons from Oklahoma’s definitive victory on the road against Kansas.
