Georgia football started slow but eventually pulled away for the Tennessee Volunteers Saturday night. What did we learn about UGA in this victory?

Georgia went on the road for an SEC matchup against the struggling Tennessee Volunteers.

This game had all the making of a blowout as a true freshman for the Vols, Brian Maurer, was getting his first start against a tough defense. A very young and depleted defense had to face off against UGA quarterback, Jake Fromm who looks like a world beater so far this year. The Tennessee crowd was out in full force to support their team no matter what.

Georgia got off to a slow start in this one on the defensive side of the ball. In the second quarter the Vols actually led Georgia 14-10. Maurer was getting the ball out quickly and precisely and the Georgia secondary was not covering very well. On the other side of the ball for the Bulldogs things were clicking as always. Jake Fromm had one incompletion through the first quarter.

The Georgia defense started putting heavy pressure on the young quarterback late in the second quarter and never let up. Maurer took several shots in this one and ultimately left late in the game. He was replaced by the familiar and often infamous to Vol fans, Jarrett Guarantano. He didn’t have any success either, going 1-of-5 on the night.

In the end, Georgia’s talent gave them a major edge and they pulled away to a comfortable  43-14 victory. What can we take away from this game for the Bulldogs?
