Georgia Football: 3 takeaways from victory over Tennessee in Week 6
By David Harvey
2. Not just run blockers
Georgia has been known as a smash-mouth team that likes to run the ball down your throat for quite some time now. Their offensive line’s average weight wouldn’t register on most of your home scales so those big uglies up front have broken the will of many a defensive front four with their run-blocking skills.
Tonight, the offensive line of Georgia continued to prove that they can pass block with the best of them. Tennessee didn’t even look like they had a pass rush in this one. Jake Fromm’s jersey actually somehow looked more clean when he left the game than it did when he started.
So far on the season, Georgia has rushed for 1,012 yards on the ground. They’ve also only allowed one sack on their quarterback to date. That lonely sack makes them the best team in the country in sacks allowed. A large part of Fromm and Swift’s success should be attributed to the hog-mollies up front.
This Georgia Bulldog team is only going to go as far as the warriors in the trenches can take it. If the offensive line can continue to pass and run block with equal effectiveness, the sky is the limit. In my opinion the Georgia Offensive line is the best in the country and I don’t see anyone topping them anytime soon.
