Iowa and Michigan State picked up their first conference losses this weekend. See how that affected the Big Ten football power rankings for Week 7.

Exciting would not be the word to describe this past weekend for Big Ten football. With 13 of the 14 schools in action (Indiana being the lone team on bye), we saw six conference matchups while Wisconsin finished up its non-conference schedule. While Wisconsin made work of Kent State, Penn State, Ohio State, Maryland and Minnesota came up with conference wins by at least 23 points.

In the close games of the weekend, there was not a lot of offense. Michigan picked up a big 10-3 win over Iowa and Nebraska kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired to beat Northwestern, 13-10.

Week 7 is a wild card weekend. The matchups send mixed signals on what the out comes will be. The biggest game is Penn State at Iowa in a night game at Kinnick Stadium. Aside from that, the rest of the games in the Big Ten lean more towards blowouts than instant classics.

What is more noteworthy is the perfectly scheduled bye week for Ohio State. While you don’t want to slow down a team while they’re hot, a bye at the halfway point is quite nice.

But before we get into this weekend, let’s get down to business and take a look at the updated power rankings for the Big Ten.
