Syracuse football has had an up-and-down start to its 2019 season but it could get back on track with a big Thursday night road win over NC State.

Syracuse is coming off a bye week and in search of its first ACC win of the season while NC State, too, is fresh off a bye and aiming to put that tough Florida State loss in the rearview mirror.

Dino Babers’ team hasn’t reached expectations yet this season, but things could be looking up after a two-game winning streak. A bye week may have helped but it could have also taken away from the positive momentum built.

Hitting the road to take on the Wolfpack in a Thursday night bout will draw national attention and a big win for Babers’ crew and they could be right back in the thick of things in the ACC.

What can we expect from Thursday’s Syracuse vs. NC State battle?

3. Syracuse picks off Bailey Hockman twice

This might not seem like the boldest of predictions, but judging how poor the Syracuse secondary has been this season (280 yards allowed per game) it might just be crazy.

Bailey Hockman is getting the start for NC State after Dave Doeren decided to replace Matthew McKay. The former Florida State commit turned No. 1 JUCO quarterback has been given his first opportunity with the Wolfpack and you know he wants to come out and make an impression against a lackluster defense.

However, the Orange will get the best of him as he’ll try to force too much, throwing into double coverage for his first pick and vastly overthrowing an intended target for his second. He’ll start the game a little shaky with too much juice flowing through his veins, but he’ll settle down by game’s end.

Still, two picks could be enough to make a difference in this one.
