Miami football is looking to pick up a big Friday night win over Virginia. The Hurricanes have a chance to make some noise in the ACC.
It’s been an interesting start to the Manny Diaz era in Miami. The Hurricanes are just 2-3 overall and 0-2 in ACC play to start the season which falls way short of expectations.
Many thought the Hurricanes would make a push for the ACC Coastal title, but it’s been a rough start to the year with losses to Florida, North Carolina and Virginia Tech by seven points or less. Yes, this team is just a few plays away from being 5-0 and 2-0 in conference play while likely being ranked somewhere in the top 25.
What could take place on Friday night?
3. DeeJay Dallas rushes for 150 yards
DeeJay Dallas made some noise to start the season in Week 0 with 94 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. His yards per carry average only improved over the next two games with 100-plus yards in each one with three touchdowns on no more than 14 carries in a game.
But he’s taken somewhat of a step back in the past two games, accounting for 100 total yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. Those aren’t bad numbers, but he’s capable of more.
We’ll see just that against the Cavaliers, especially coming off a game in which he averaged 11 yards per carry — he only got six carries in the loss to Virginia Tech.
Dallas is going to run wild against a strong Virginia defense, picking up a season-high 150 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown. He’ll make a name for himself on Friday night, making a statement against one of the ACC’s best teams.
