Alabama Football: 3 keys to victory vs. Texas A&M in Week 7
By Dante Pryor
The Texas A&M Aggies host Alabama football on Saturday afternoon in College Station. Here’s what the Tide must do in order to stay undefeated.
There are a couple of interesting factoids in this game: Texas A&M is the first team in the BCS and playoff era of college football to play two different No. 1 ranked teams in the same season.
The Aggies went to Death Valley East earlier this season and fell short against the Clemson Tigers. Now they host the Alabama Crimson Tide. Jimbo Fisher is looking to break through and become the first of Nick Saban’s former assistants to defeat him as a head coach. He coached with Saban at LSU.
To say that Alabama’s offense has been dominant is an understatement. The Crimson Tide are averaging over 50 points and 500 yards per game. Junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is putting up video game — well if there still was a college football video game — numbers. The running game, although complementary, has been efficient the entire season.
Texas A&M’s offense hasn’t shown up in big games.
Quarterback Kellen Mond hasn’t been great against good defenses posting an average QBR under 40 against Clemson and Auburn. He’s head no assistance from the running game at all, and his receivers have left some receptions on the turf as well.
If there’s one thing that has been consistent in College Station, it’s been the defense. In a miraculous turnaround, the Aggie defense has been one of the most improved units on any team in college football.
Can A&M pull off the monumental upset against the Tide. No, they can’t and here are three keys for an Alabama win.
